Planning can sometimes be nothing more than a mistrust of the future self.

Overplanning seems to be a sort of fear of the unknown. The desire to know exactly how things will play out for me seemed to drive an obsession with planning.
Yet very rarely did anything turn out the way it was planned. It was just a lot of wasted energy and anxiety constantly comparing where I was to how the plan looked. I could only ever fall short.
It turns out trusting future me is far more fun, and things seem to turn out better. Working on projects feel like a process of discovery.
